DAy 82 of 100 - Overcome your Ego Mind
March 23rd.
Ever been looking forward to something and then find out when you get there that it has changed? It feels like your guts are being ripped out and then we are faced with a choice. We could pout like six year olds (which I do on occasion), or do this......
When I got to Crossfit today I was expecting a combination of running and burpees. While painful these are two of my best movements and I was certain to dominate the workout.
HOWEVER, we were informed that because of neighborhood complaints of us running through the streets that we would stay on campus and ROW instead of run.
It was like the air went out of a balloon, but I have been working on overcoming my childish ego mind in regards to this type of adversity caused by sudden change. Because as we all know this goes way beyond fitness. This last sentence is a basic definition of life. How do we respond?
So I took a deep breath and told myself I would rely on my training and knock it out.
About halfway through my nearest competitor went to get a drink of water and I new I had broken him. The poor guy showed me better row technique last week and I promptly repaid him by stomping his ass on the rower.
It was a killer workout, but I can feel myself shifting into a higher gear both mentally and physically.
Workout:
Warm up and Drills (including 20 push ups)
Do the following for time:
10 Burpees and 1000m of Row machine
15 Burpees and 800m of Row machine
20 Burpees and 600m of Row machine
25 Burpees and 400m of Row machine
I did it in 16 minutes and 43 seconds.
That is 70 Chest burpees so I did 10 more push ups to equal 100 for the day!
